Bringing Sake to London: Taku x IWA Sake with Richard Geoffroy
On June 21st, TAKU was honoured to host an exclusive collaboration event with IWA Sake, featuring a special appearance by Richard Geoffroy, the renowned founder and maker of IWA Sake and former Chef de Cave of Dom Pérignon. This extraordinary evening offered guests the unique opportunity to savour a carefully curated Omakase menu, paired with rare vintages of IWA Sake, in an intimate setting.
Event Highlights
The night featured two exclusive seatings, where guests were treated to a truly unforgettable dining experience. Each course was expertly paired with rare assemblages from IWA Sake, offering a seamless blend of flavour and craftsmanship. The featured bottles included:
IWA 5 A2 Isshobin (1800ml)
IWA 5 A3
IWA 5 A4
IWA 5 Reserve Isshobin (1800ml)
Richard Geoffroy himself guided guests through the tasting, sharing fascinating insights and stories from his career. This intimate interaction with such a respected figure in the world of fine beverages added an unparalleled depth to the experience, making it a night to remember.
A Rare Experience
What made the event even more special was the exclusivity of the sake served. Some of the bottles featured on the night were available only at TAKU, giving guests a truly rare opportunity to taste these exceptional blends.
The collaboration between TAKU and IWA Sake was an important step in showcasing Japanese cuisine and sake. We’re also committed to making sake more popular in London, where it’s still not as well-known as wine. Through events like this, we hope to share the unique qualities of sake with more people and continue to elevate its profile in the city.
Stay tuned for our future events!
