Taku makes Top 100 Restaurants in UK List
TAKU is proud to announce its inclusion in the Harden’s Top 100 Restaurants in the UK for 2024, an esteemed ranking that celebrates the very best of the UK’s dining scene. Not only has TAKU earned a place on this prestigious list, but we’ve also achieved a remarkable milestone by being ranked as the fifth-best restaurant in the UK and as the second-best restaurant in London. This recognition affirms our dedication to crafting a dining experience that blends tradition, artistry, and a modern approach
What Harden’s Top 100 Represents
The Harden’s Top 100 Restaurants list is a highly respected benchmark in the UK’s culinary world, compiled from thousands of diner reviews and feedback. Being ranked in the top five is not only an honour but a testament to TAKU’s unique standing in the competitive landscape of fine dining.
Joining us on this illustrious list are some of the UK’s most renowned establishments, including three-Michelin-starred restaurants such as The Ledbury, which placed 8th, and Core by Clare Smyth, ranked 17th. TAKU’s placement ahead of these celebrated names underscores the growing appreciation for Omakase dining and our distinctive approach to the craft.
TAKU’s Omakase: Tradition Meets Evolution
At TAKU, we are redefining Omakase for the UK food scene. Rooted in the traditions of Edomae sushi, our approach respects these foundations while embracing modern techniques and sustainable practices. Every detail, from dry-aging local fish to transforming crispy sushi rice ends into risotto, reflects our commitment to minimising waste and elevating flavors.
Our menu is a journey of discovery, where each dish tells a story of seasonal inspiration. This philosophy has resonated deeply with our guests, contributing to TAKU’s rapid rise as a leader in London’s dining scene.
TAKU’s Journey to the Top
Since opening in November 2022, TAKU has quickly established itself as a culinary powerhouse. Within just four months of opening, we were awarded a Michelin star—a testament to the dedication and passion of our entire team. This early success laid the foundation for continued growth and innovation, culminating in our recognition by Harden’s as one of the top five restaurants in the UK.
The speed of TAKU’s rise is particularly striking when compared to Endo at The Rotunda, which also specialises in Omakase and earned the number one spot on Harden’s list. Endo opened in April 2019, giving it a longer runway to establish itself, while TAKU has reached similar heights in just over a year. This rapid ascent reflects the incredible effort and focus of the TAKU team.
Our intimate 16-seat Omakase counter offers a unique dining experience, where guests can witness chefs John and Long as they craft each course. This immersive setting fosters a connection between diner and chef, creating moments that are as memorable as the dishes themselves.
A Rising Omakase Scene
TAKU’s achievement also highlights the rise of Omakase dining in the UK. Joining us on the Harden’s list is Endo at The Rotunda, which claimed the top spot and showcases the growing prominence of Japanese cuisine in the UK. While Endo represents a pinnacle of excellence in Omakase, TAKU’s distinct approach—balancing tradition with innovation—sets us apart and positions us as a close competitor.
Looking Ahead
As we celebrate this milestone, we remain committed to evolving and pushing boundaries. Recognition from Harden’s is both an honour and a challenge to continue delivering an exceptional dining experience that surprises and delights our guests.
