A Night to Remember: Celebrating Suntory Whisky’s 100th Anniversary at TAKU
On September 28th 2023, we had the incredible honour of hosting an exclusive collaboration event with The House of Suntory to celebrate their 100th anniversary. This event marked a special moment for both Suntory and TAKU, as we brought together the best of Japanese whisky and the finest Omakase dining for an unforgettable night.
Crafting the Perfect Pairings
For this occasion, Head Chef Long designed four exclusive dishes to complement the rare whiskies from The House of Suntory. Each dish was meticulously paired with some of the most exceptional releases from Suntory’s 100th anniversary collection, including the Yamazaki 18 Mizunara and Hakushu 18 Peated Malt.
One of the standout pairings featured oyster with smoked haddock cream, perfectly matched with the rich and complex notes of Yamazaki 18 Mizunara. Another highlight of the evening was the aubergine with kuro shichimi ankake, paired with a refreshing Toki Highball, offering a delicate balance of spice and freshness.
A Unique Omakase Experience
Our team, including Head Sommelier Bowie Tsang, worked closely with Suntory’s esteemed ambassador, Raffaele di Monaco, to guide guests through the flavour journey. The night showcased not only the exquisite whiskies but also new and bold creations that pushed the boundaries of what our Omakase represents.
An Exclusive Celebration
This event was incredibly exclusive, limited to a single night with only a handful of seats available. Guests were given the rare opportunity to purchase bottles of the Yamazaki 18 Mizunara or Hakushu 18 Peated Malt to take home, making the evening even more special.
